Post Match Post Script

The post-match penalty competition offered Excalibur's boys a chance of partial revenge for their humiliation, but again were quite woeful, exemplified by Jack's screaming howler. Even Sid scored his penalty with some aplomb, sending Billy the wrong way in a fashion even Ray Clemence may have found accomplished (picture immediately below).

Sid's aplomb

All penalty plaudits have to go to Wolfie's effort though. Mere words cannot do his deceptive half-skew, half-pirouette trickler justice - see more penalty photos here.

Game Over

The Allstars retired to either celebrate or lick their wounds at The Priory, before getting tarted up for a night on the town. Pitcher & Piano, Dogma bar, and Sapna Indian restaurant later, and another Allstars night was over. Paul had lost his glasses, and Sid had fallen over and bruised himself on the way back to the Innkeeper's Lodge. To be fair to Nottingham's passing taxi drivers, the sight of a 6ft4 Iron Maiden fan throwing himself into a tangled mess on the road is not an internationally recognised signal for hailing a cab.

After a stroll around the grounds of Lenton Hurst on the Sunday morning where a heated gardening debate ensued, a hardcore of Allstar revellers then retired to Via Fossa on Nottingham's canal-side for lunch. It remains to be seen whether Dave Bigland's holiday 'racing' games were the most appropriate luncheon conversation.
