Match Report #3

Incredulous Stan

Incredulous Stan looks on.

Two Allstars now have to face up to the fact that not only have their teenage sons surpassed them in footballing prowess, but must now accept that their teenage daughters have football skills they can (and could) only dream about, not only out skilling but out thinking and out muscling the more senior players. Indeed, Lucia took a well-deserved golden boot MoM at the end. This, despite her father Max being in peek fitness, focussed on the golden boot for himself, and employing an attempt to catch the eye in the centre of the park. In fairness, Halliwell Snr. had one left-foot attempt on goal, which may have cemented his case, but the ball forlornly just avoided the corner flag. A valiant attempt to make amends later had dire consequence, as Max swung to connect a cross, but only damaged some passing air and some random ligaments, and effectively ending his participation. A shame, as he had borrowed Jack’s boots and shirt for the occasion. Maybe next year...

Harry Cross

Harry crosses for the Milianistas.

Mince, too, faces the very real prospect that his son will outperform him before he reaches double figures, as young Stan entered the field of play at strategic moments to pass and move, playing a lovely 1-2 with John past the ‘AC Milan’ right-back at one point. Another move resulted in his first Allstars shot on goal, after earlier dispossessing Mark H.

Sid Danger

Danger in Sid's Box. Well quite.

And so we march on for another year, as over 50s walking football beckons...
